Foundation Governor. Member of Finance & Resources Committee. Pamela is a Careers Adviser and is a qualified food technologist.
She is the college learner voice link governor, having a great interest in the learner experience and has extensive experience supporting students with additional needs, and with progression routes available to young people.
She works at young people's service in Lancashire. Pam enjoys music-especially Kirsty MacColl- caravanning, visiting new places, going to the theatre, reading and taking walks with the dog.
Staff Governor. Member of Quality & Standards Committee. James is the Divisional Leader for English, Arts and Communication, has worked at St John Rigby College for 11 years and teaches in the Music Department. In addition to his Divisional Leader role, James is an examiner for A-Level Music and is the Teaching and Learning Manager for the College
Peter is the Principal at the College. Member of Finance & Resources and Quality & Standards Committees. Peter began his career as a Teacher of Mathematics in Oldham. He then moved to Loreto College in Manchester where he became Head of Mathematics and Senior Tutor. After 11 years he left to take up post as Head of a new Sixth Form Centre in Ardwick and before coming to SJR he was Deputy Principal at Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College. He enjoys spending time with his family, watching and participating in various sports and attending music concerts
A former Associate Lecturer with the Open University specializing in Social Sciences, Teresa also worked in Further Education for fourteen years specializing in English. Currently a Director of Richardson Engineering Associates Ltd, Teresa also works part time as an External Verifier for an Awarding Body.
Foundation Governor. Member of the Finance & Resources Committee. Philip is the Head of Engineering at Wigan and Leigh College where he has worked for 28 years. He enjoys most sports and has been a season ticket holder at Wigan Warriors for many years. He also enjoys playing golf and walking, and has completed many charity running events.
Foundation Governor. Member of the Audit Committee. Mark was a student at the College from 1987-89. He went on to read French and Russian at Bradford University and Hertford College, Oxford before pursuing a career in Law. He is now a partner at a law firm in Manchester, specialising in employment law.
Foundation Governor. Member of the Finance & Resources Committee. A History teacher by profession, Peter worked for 37 years in Catholic schools around the North West. He was Headteacher at St. John Fisher for five years, followed by six years as Business Manager at St. Edmund Arrowsmith. He is currently studying for an M.A. in British History in the First World War. Peter is a Wigan Warriors season ticket holder, a volunteer for the National Trust and a keen theatre-goer.

Pam is an ex pupil of St John Rigby College, leaving in 1981. She then studied at Manchester Polytechnic after which she joined an accountancy practice in Manchester as a trainee accountant. Pam qualified in 1995 and has worked as an accountant in private accountancy practice, private industry and now in the NHS.
Outside work she enjoys watching tennis and films, going to concerts and to the theatre. She is also a volunteer with the Wigan & District fundraising branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
Foundation Governor. Member of Finance & Resources Committee. Simon worked in Local Government for almost 30 years in a variety of roles from Social Work to strategic planning. He is currently developing a bicycle recycling enterprise working within a local charity. As you might expect, Simon enjoys fresh air on two wheels, occasionally on a tandem with his “other half”. He is very grateful to live close to the West Coast Main line, with offspring living in London and Glasgow.
Fr John Hindley
Fr John is a Foundation Governor at the College as part of his role as parish priest of St Marie's Standish and St Bernadette's Shevington. Back in the mists of time, Fr John completed a PGCE in teaching RE in a secondary school at the School of Education at Durham University, having completed his Undergraduate studies there, but felt the Lord was calling him to serve as a priest. Fr John was ordained in 1998 and has served in parishes in inner city Liverpool, the Isle of Man, and for the last 10 years, has been in Wigan. Outside work, Fr John enjoys travel, eating out, music and going to concerts and the cinema.
Dr Catherine Morgan
Foundation Governor. Member of Audit committee. Catherine is a former student of St John Rigby College. Catherine went on to study Medicine at the University of Sheffield. Her postgraduate qualifications include the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners and Postgraduate Certificate in General Practice Education. Catherine is a GP at Pennygate Medical Centre in Hindley. She has a particular interest in education and is the Director of the Wigan GP Speciality Training Programme, a Primary Care Medical Educator with Health Education North West and moderation chair for GP recruitment in the North West. Catherine is committed to ensuring the continued growth and development of St John Rigby College, in line with our Mission Statement.
Parent Governor. Member of Audit Committee. Andrew is a chartered accountant by profession, has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Education, a Master’s degree in Business Administration and currently works for a listed PLC based in Cheshire. He is a father of 5 children, the oldest of whom is currently at the college. In his spare (?) time he referees Rugby Union and is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Wigan.
Foundation Governor. Chair of Governors and Chair of Quality & Standards Committee. John taught at St John Rigby Grammar School, and then became Head of Maths at St Edmund Arrowsmith High School. After a Deputy Headship in Huyton, he served for twenty years as Headteacher of an 11-18 Comprehensive School in the Midlands. Now retired, he has recently been appointed a National Leader of Governance. He enjoys walking, supporting Wigan Athletic and spendind time with his grand daughters..
