The Future Scientists after school club started off with a bang – or a fizz this week. The College welcomed budding scientists from partner high schools to their state of the art labs to create bath bombs and soaps, combining an exciting Chemistry experiment with a unique Mother’s Day gift!
The club is open to anyone with an interest in science from years 9, 10 and 11, with more sessions set to take place later in the year due to the popularity of the first cluster.
Victoria Brown, Head of Science, said “These sessions are an excellent opportunity for keen scientists to enhance their classroom knowledge with fun, hands on activities that they may not have access to at school. We are also using the club to inform young people about the wide range of career paths a degree or apprenticeship in the science industry can open up to them in the future.”
The Future Scientists have a variety of challenges to look forward to over the coming weeks, including a session on ‘Mini Monsters’ which will involve work with insects, for those who aren’t too squeamish!
