The cast and crew of SJR’s latest musical production, The Addams Family, were thrilled to receive four nominations from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association Awards, reaching the North West finals for 2016.

The ceremony which was a glamourous affair at the Mercure Hotel in Manchester, included entertainment and a fantastic meal, allowing our stars in the making to experience the lifestyle of a stage and screen celebrity!

Awards up for grabs included: Best Comedy Male, Best Supporting Female, Best Staging & Set and Best Musical Director, all in the youth category. Our nominees were enjoying soaking up the atmosphere, humbly not expecting to hear their production’s name called when David Wall was announced the winner of Best Youth Musical Director!

On congratulating the cast and crew, a Northwest Councillor for NODA said, “It is fantastic that as a district we had so many nominations but for your College to make up such a percentage of those is amazing! To get this far on your first time and to win an award for your College is a fabulous achievement and you should all be so proud. I will definitely be coming to next year’s show!”

Music teacher and production director, David Wall, said, “I am so proud of all of the young people involved in the show, not just those nominated and it is incredible to have got this far. The award we have won is testament to the determination of our students to succeed and proves just what SJR is capable of. The award is for the entire cast and crew, without whom achieving such an accolade would never have been possible.”
