Future Scientists Visit the Institute of Biotechnology

Future Scientists were invited to attend an Open Day at Manchester University's Institute of Biotechnology. The Institute is a purpose-built interdisciplinary research centre that houses over 500 research staff and students currently working in teams to generate unique capabilities in biotechnology science.

During the Open Day, students were given a guided tour around the state-of-the art instrumentation rooms and research laboratories and invited to take part in several of the activities the scientists working there carry out every day. Students also got the chance to speak to current undergraduate and postgraduate students about their research projects - some of which linked very well to the projects our Future Scientists are currently completing!
