SJR music students enjoyed their annual residential trip this year; however, this time there was a twist. Instead of our usual location, this year the team visited a new venue on Anglesey. The Conway Centre has venues equipped for music and arts performances and was a wonderful setting for a weekend of music making.
The weekend began with students getting organised, making beds and setting up rooms. From there, it was our evening meal and then the students were given a mystery song to do a cover of for the concert that night. Saturday morning was an early start for breakfast then a singing workshop for everyone, including a performance from staff. A quick cup of tea, then it was some outdoor competitive team building games. Showers were definitely needed after this, then there was a little time to create a performance for the concert and our evening meal. Quick rehearsals followed our food, then a concert and a party concluded the evening. Sunday was breakfast, pack up and set off home.
David Wall, Head of Performing Arts, commented that "We have been running this residential trip for around 12 years now. I think that this was one of the best yet. All the students worked together and created some great music and some great memories".
40 students, 5 staff, 3 days, 2 nights, 1 music family.
An exceptional weekend with great food, great company and wonderful music making - with just a little bit of silliness. Well done to all involved!
