Oliver Marshall, James Brien and Melissa Molyneux with Bank of England Governor Mark Carney

Students from St John Rigby College were invited to attend a Future Forum run by the Bank of England at St George’s Hall in Liverpool.

We received the invitation having been shortlisted for the ‘Most Inspirational 16-18 Education Provider’ at the upcoming Educate Awards.

Students took part in the conference and Q&A session and discussed the future state of the UK economy with a panel consisting of the Governor and Deputy Governors from the Bank of England. The Governor – Mark Carney – was very interested to hear what our students had to say and even made a reference to Melissa’s contribution in his closing remarks.

This was an excellent opportunity to further students' understanding of economics and the role of the Bank of England, but also provided inspiration for future careers in this field.
