St John Rigby College is one of only eight colleges nationally shortlisted for The Times Educational Supplement’s Sixth Form College of the Year Award.
A number of factors have led to this nomination. SJR is consistently named amongst the top colleges in the country, and is the top college in Wigan for A level progress. SJR is a college where students achieve outstanding results and it is the home of the unique “Elective Programme” that adds context to students’ learning and involves a range of local and national employers in our students’ A level and Vocational study programmes.
College Principal Peter McGhee said: “I am incredibly proud of the work of staff and students at the College. To be shortlisted for this award is an exceptional achievement!
“This shortlisting comes on the back of an incredible year for St John Rigby College, a year in which we were named Sixth Form College of the Year and Most Inspirational Sixth Form College by the Educate Awards and were graded Outstanding by Ofsted.
“All of these achievements reflect the fact that there is something exceptional happening at SJR. We are an inclusive college and a unique environment that offers students exceptional opportunities for success, happiness and personal growth.”
