Year 12 English Literature and Future Writers Elective student Harry Jones represented the college in the prestigious Province 4 Catenian Association Public Speaking Competition, held at Carmel College, competing against students from other schools and colleges from across the North West.

Delivering a speech entitled ‘The social media frontier: an ongoing battle for our generation’ that was written collaboratively by the Future Writers group, Harry showed great poise and composure in front of an audience of well over 100 of the Catenian group and their guests.

While his English teacher Toby Lynch and Head of English Chris Chandler, who supported him along with his parents on the night, felt that he fully deserved to emerge victorious, unfortunately the judges thought otherwise. Nevertheless, Harry has much to feel very proud about, having acquitted himself with such aplomb and we are all very proud of him.
