Year 12 Sociology students had a very informative and entertaining trip to Manchester. The first stop was to The People’s History Museum to see how British democracy has developed over the last 200 years. It was particularly relevant given the 100 year anniversary of The Representation of the People Act which allowed women the right to vote in General Elections.
The afternoon was spent at Kick Air, the North West’s largest indoor freestyle park, jumping, summersaulting and testing the theory that adulthood and childhood are blurring. Students were given extra instruction and challenges by former SJR student Matt Kitchen, who has just graduated from the University of Leeds.
All in all, staff and students returned to college feeling a mixture of true enlightenment and physical exhaustion!
