Students on the Future Journalists Elective course visited Salford University, gaining a valuable insight into studying multimedia.
Located in Media City, the heart of the UK’s media and digital industries, Salford University is ideal for those studying the developments in multi-media journalism as it provides access to multiple placements through the BBC and ITV across TV, radio and print production. The ITV studios themselves are situated on the top floor of the university building.
The students were shown around the Media City campus by Paul Broster, the Director of Journalism at the university. Paul spoke of the university’s mission to make students employable within their desired industries through offering a range of undergraduate and post-graduate courses in many different aspects of journalism.
A tour of the building included a visit to the Salford University Newsroom, with students working collaboratively to create the next publication for their news website, while the video editing classrooms of Quays TV showed the view behind the camera, with a range of industry standard equipment to facilitate any production.
