Two teachers from St John Rigby College have been recognised as inspirational leaders of teaching and learning by successfully achieving Lead Practitioner Accreditation from SSAT, the Schools, Students and Teachers network.

The SSAT Lead Practitioner programme celebrates great teachers who lead their colleagues to develop themselves. The award recognises their skills, experience and qualities and how they embed and extend teaching and learning in their school that positively impacts on the lives of their students.

SJR teachers Sarah Ryder and Liz Harrison submitted research projects on the theme of developing learning culture.

SSAT Chief Executive Sue Williamson said, ‘We are delighted to recognise the achievement of the newest accredited Lead Practitioners joining SSAT’s network. They have demonstrated through their application how the work they have done has impacted on both the teachers and the students in their own school and others across the region.’

SJR Principal, Peter McGhee, said “We have a team of inspirational teachers here at St John Rigby College and I am delighted that once again our teachers have been recognised as leading the way in teaching and learning. As a college we are judged by Ofsted to be outstanding in every aspect of our work and our inspection report references evidence such as “strong teaching results in a high proportion of students making exceptional progress.” I am delighted for Sarah and Liz to receive this well-deserved recognition and look forward to them continuing their exceptional work in support of our staff and students.”
