One of Chester University’s three football teams from the University Degrees Abroad programme came to college to take on an SJR team. The UDA players were from a number of American states including California, New Mexico and others. It was an excellent competitive and cultural experience for all concerned with the match ending in a 0-0 draw.
UDA is an innovative programme that recruits American students to Chester University. These students follow a wide range of degree programmes, including Sports Science, Cyber Security, Criminology and Psychology. In addition to their degree studies, the undergraduates pass 'trials' in the USA to be a part of the UDA Soccer Academy based at Chester University. The academy is designed on a similar basis to professional clubs in this country, with training four evenings a week. The 'older' players participate in the NW Counties Under 23's league, while younger players participate in a range of university leagues and cups and also in friendlies such as the SJR game.
