SJR Foundation Learning students put on an action packed fundraiser for The Brick homeless charity.
The day began with a bake sale made up of an array of treats to tempt those taking a morning coffee break, as well as stalls selling tombola tickets for much sought after Mothers’ Day themed prizes.
The activities continued into the afternoon as the students served soup for lunch and were joined by Performing Arts, who staged a poignant dramatic performance about the widespread misconceptions held around homelessness. Year 12 Music student Jamie Wooding also performed a cover of Ed Sheeran’s ’The A Team’. This reminded all in attendance of the outstanding work The Brick do to support vulnerable people in the local community, which is what inspired the students to host the event.
A grand total of £280 was raised, a testament to the students’ hard work and commitment. Staff at SJR are proud of our Foundation Learning group’s efforts and are delighted to see a worthy cause benefit.
