The Cardinal in college

Year 12 Performing Arts students staged an evening of Wigan themed dramatic performances to be filmed as part of their course assessment.

The pieces combined dance, drama and music and were inspired by historical events from the local area, including the Maypole mining disaster, the legend of Lady Mabel and the plight of opera singer Margery Booth, who became a British spy while living in Germany in World War II.

The department welcomed parents and people from the local community to provide the performers with an audience and despite the pressure, all staged unique, experimental and engaging pieces.

We wish our Performing Arts students the best of luck with the rest of their exams and look forward to seeing their skills develop, as they continue their journey with St John Rigby College.
