Former SJR student Lewis Morris recently starred in the film Northern Soul, a story of how youth culture in 1970s Britain broadened the horizons of young people in Northern England.
Just like in the film, Lewis also left his home town to pursue his dream of becoming a successful actor. He has returned to the SJR drama theatre on two occasions to coach BTEC Acting students on their assessed monologues and to give feedback on their work. Lewis shared some method acting exercises which he learnt over several years of teaching at the National Youth Theatre to help with the monologues.
Lewis also took the time to talk about his career since college and his new film, as well as giving tips on applying to drama schools.
Lewis said, “It was excellent to be back and see the good work you do and I had a great response from the students.
“It was also important to get across to those students who don’t necessarily want to be actors that they are learning important skills from BTEC Acting such as confidence in public speaking, doing presentations and working as a team.”
