The St John Rigby College class of 2016 students have achieved superb results with:
The pass rate for Advanced Level courses has reached 99% for the fourth consecutive year and the high grade passes have exceeded 50%. These grades give genuine cause for celebration and are particularly impressive when considered in the context of St John Rigby College being highly inclusive and providing many young people with the opportunity to study A levels which would not be afforded them at some other colleges. Across all courses this represents a continuation of the College’s mission to raise aspirations and is certain to result in another year of outstanding ‘A Level Progress’.
Principal, Peter McGhee said:
“At St John Rigby College we work tirelessly to ensure our students become the best they can possibly be. This hard work and dedication has culminated in a day of celebration for our students, their families and our staff. These are exceptional results from a remarkable group of young people who have worked extremely hard and have been well supported in order to achieve their potential. I am delighted that their efforts have been rewarded and that they are leaving College with the grades, the self-confidence and the independence to assist them in excelling as they progress to employment, apprenticeships or further study.
“At St John Rigby College we have faith in our students and in our work and we believe that there should be no ceiling to achievement. Since arriving at the College, I have been privileged to enjoy and be part of a transformation in the aspirations and the outcomes of our students. Something very special and very powerful is happening within our community and I believe that this is a result of students being prepared to work hard and being taught and supported by inspirational staff who are passionate about improving the life choices of those with whom they work. This is clearly demonstrated by the improvement in A level high grades which has increased by 15% over the last five years.
“I am certain that the main contributory factors to our students’ successes are the pastoral care that they receive and the extra time that our staff spend with them outside of ‘normal’ lessons. We provide extra time for study and additional support in order to enhance students’ learning and to build their confidence. It is a joy and a privilege to work with them and I hope that they are as proud as I am of their achievements. With these grades behind them our students can look forward to a very bright future.”
