Geography students went to investigate sand dune at Formby beach this June. They were investigating the physical process of sand dune succession This included how the profile of sand dunes form and how the coverage and variety of vegetation changes this.
The students also had the opportunity to assess the impact of human activity upon the natural environment here and the effectiveness of strategies that have been put in place to manage this landscape. In doing this they were able to enhance their understanding of key content for the ‘Coastal Landscape and Change’ Topic of A Level Geography.
