Geography Students Investigate Changing Places
Geography students visited Manchester to develop their understanding of the ‘Changing Place’ topic on their A Level course, which studies how people feel about the place in which they live and how unique places are.
The students participated in a range of methods in the inner city area of Hulme, including traffic surveys and showing the courage to ask locals questions within an interview.
The afternoon was spent in Piccadilly Gardens where an outsider’s perspective of Hulme was sought through questionnaires, asking the public their opinions on development of the area over time.
The trip also helped develop the students’ fieldwork skills, which will be vital for their upcoming coursework which is worth 20% of the Geography A-Level.
