On the WAY to Prestigious Awards!
We are proud to announce that the Wigan Aspiring Youth (WAY) Programme has been shortlisted in two categories (Social Mobility & Community Engagement) at the prestigious Educate North Awards.
The WAY Programme is a prestigious scheme to raise the aspirations of young people in Years 9 and 10 and equip them with skills and personal attributes to succeed in Y11 and beyond. The programme is delivered jointly by St John Rigby College and Greater Manchester Higher (GMHigher). There are currently over 300 pupils from schools across Wigan enrolled to the programme. The underpinning concept is that participants will become (both physically and metaphorically) the architects, designers and creators of our futures.
A huge thank you to our partners Greater Manchester Higher and the amazing pupils and staff at all of our participant schools – Byrchall High School, Golborne High School, Shevington High School, St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School, St Peter’s Catholic High School, Dean Trust Wigan, Dean Trust Rose Bridge, Lowton Church of England High School, St John Fisher Catholic High School, Cansfield High School and Standish Community High School.
The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday 23 April 2020 at Manchester’s Hilton Deansgate. Coincidentally, this is also the night of our Graduation Event at The Edge, so fingers crossed for a double (or even triple) celebration!
