This course is equivalent to one GCSE and is a one year course.
Public Services enables learners to gain a clear insight into the public service sector and aims to inspire, motivate and prepare students for progression on to a Level 3 vocational or academic course.
It also provides you with the potential opportunity to enter employment within a wide range of junior job roles across the public service sector, for example entry level jobs within the armed services or non-uniformed services.
To study a Level 2 programme you will have achieved a minimum of three grade 3s in your GCSEs, in addition to a grade 3 in English Language and Mathematics (please refer to the Entry Requirements section for further details).
75% coursework and 25% external examinations
Throughout this one year course you will study the following:
Unit One: The Role and Work of the Public Services (exam)
Unit Two: Working Skills in the Public Services
Unit Three: Employment in the Public Services
Unit Four: Public Services and Community Protection
Unit Five: Health, Fitness and Lifestyle for the Public Services
Successful completion of this course will allow progression to Level 3 course in BTEC Public Services as well as many more options in College.
Progression to Level 3 courses at College is dependent upon meeting the entry requirements for that course.
