College entry to include GCSE Mathematics minimum grade 4 and GCSE Combined Science minimum grade 4 – 4, (or Biology 4, Chemistry 4)
For each of the units you will be assessed either internally (coursework – 50% of final grade) or externally (assessed task or examination – 50% of final grade).
As you progress on the course you will find that your knowledge and understanding of science is enhanced and that you gain confidence in your own abilities through the practical aspects of the course. If you are considering future employment in a related field or progression to higher education then you will find that how you communicate and work within a team are extremely important skills to acquire. There is also a keen emphasis placed on how you work independently. You will develop your research skills, study skills and you will have the opportunity to visit a number of universities and workplaces to gain an insight into progression routes and future careers.

Successful completion of this course will allow progression to careers in Biomedical Science, Biology, Medical Genetics, Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, Nursing, Radiotherapy Healthcare Sciences and Animal Science.

We will help you realise your potential by nurturing your talent and preparing you for study at the most prestigious universities or for progression to competitive higher-level apprenticeships. Your options range from our Honours Programme, which might include following a fourth A level, to specialist Futures Programmes that will support your career goals.
