European Day of Languages!

European Day of Languages!

Thank you UNCLAN for hosting an incredible event today – European Day of Languages!

Our MFL students had an amazing day enjoying inspiring talks on the importance of languages, culture and communication & hearing from a panel of students who had recently returned from their years abroad from France to Korea! Dr David Leeming really impressed on them that ‘it doesn’t matter where you’re from, we’re all people’, and how understanding each others’ cultures could truly make the world a better place, as well as leading to a vast array of career opportunities, and transform us as individuals.

In the afternoon, they spent time in the amazing interpreting suite, where they learned about the different types of interpreting and also what a fascinating, demanding and rewarding career interpreting can be. Finally, the group immersed themselves in taster sessions in German and Russian – as a result it looks like we have a Russian club on the horizon at SJR!

It was such a great day and our students loved it! THANK YOU ????????
