New Wigan Council Partnership for T levels 2022

New Wigan Council Partnership for T levels 2022

Wigan Council are delighted to be partnering with St John Rigby Sixth Form College to support the employability of students.

The council have a commitment to providing sustainable employment to local residents and a new Employment Pathways team has been established to ensure there are a wide range of opportunities for people to build their career with TeamWigan. The Council will be providing work placements for students on the new T Level Business, Digital and Health courses starting in September 2022. Wigan Council will also be supporting students to apply for Apprenticeships and other early career opportunities.

Louise Higham, Employment Pathway Business Partner (and a former St John Rigby student) said “Wigan Council is a great place for young people to start their career and we are keen to help students understand more about the world of work and develop the skills and behaviours they need to fulfil their ambitions.”

Whilst visiting SJR Louise took the opportunity to catch up with Simon Anten, Media Studies teacher, who taught Louise whilst she studied with us.

T levels are two year technical programmes, designed with employers, to give young people the skills that industries need. They are an alternative to A levels and BTEC courses and have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work, further training or study.
