In September, you will receive an invitation to a Parents’ Welcome Evening so that you can meet your son or daughter’s progress tutor and learn more about the courses they are studying.

Parents and carers will be sent an email which will explain the details of how to access the parent portal.

Progress Review Evenings are held each year when parents and carers have the opportunity to meet with individual subject teachers. Please use the Parents’ Evening System to book your appointment.

The 2022/2023 Progress Review Evenings are planned for the following dates and you will receive an invite two weeks prior to the event:

  • Thursday 8th December 2022 (Y13)
  • Tuesday 13th December 2022 (Y13)
  • Thursday 23rd March 2023 (Y12)
  • Tuesday 28th March 2023 (Y12)

Progress review reports and attendance reports are sent to parents and carers regularly throughout the year. Parents and carers are welcome to contact their daughter or son’s progress tutor. The progress tutor will also get in touch whenever necessary and particularly if there is a concern about a student’s work, well-being, attendance or punctuality.

Please note that St John Rigby College does not authorise students to take holidays in term-time. Please use the term date information provided to plan holidays.

They will give you the opportunity to improve your English and Maths, your work readiness skills and introduce you to the technical skills and concepts that you will need for future study and employment.

As part of the Transition Programme you will study a BTEC Level 2 Award in your chosen subject area as well as the BTEC Level 2 Extended Award in Work Skills. You will also have the opportunity to resit GCSE English and/or Maths if you have not yet achieved a grade 4.

Entry criteria for Transition Programmes is four grade 3s including grade 3s in English Language and Maths GCSE.
