Ella Takes Taekwondo to the World Stage
Ella in action
Ella Sands studies Law, History and Politics at SJR, but when she’s not working hard in lessons, she’s setting her sights on international sporting success.
After impressing with Premier Taekwondo in Huddersfield, Ella’s talent was recognised by Great Britain’s development team and she made the final stages of selection. As part of the criteria, Ella was required to compete at world-ranking competitions.
On the 14th September she travelled to Poland to compete in the Polish Open. After a hard fought, 4-3 victory against Kazakhstan, Ella progressed into the quarter-finals. However, despite a valiant fight, she narrowly lost out 4-6 to the European champions and eventual winners, Croatia.
Ella clearly shone on the world stage as she was selected for Great Britain’s development squad.
The rising star has a bright future ahead of her and has travelled to Latvia in October for another international competition.
