SJR students enjoyed a fantastic tour of the magnificent Heysham nuclear power station. As you can see everyone looked amazing in their Hi-Vis safety attire. We took about an hour to get a good look at the turbines and the top of the nuclear reactor and the 1970s style control room of Heysham 2.
The enthusiastic team gave us a talk about apprenticeships with EDF at Heysham and we discussed the percentage of each energy sector being used by the National Grid. Pros and cons of each energy method showed the essential nature of nuclear power to a net zero economy of the United Kingdom.
Thank you very much for a very interesting and thought provoking day.
