Health & Social Care Students Visit Edge Hill University
Year 12 Health and Social Care students had the opportunity to visit the Faculty of Health and Social Care at Edge Hill University. Students were able to gain information on degree courses in Adult, Child, Mental Health Nursing, Midwifery and Operating Department Practitioners.
The students also had the opportunity to experience the Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre, where there are, patient mannequins, which can breathe, sweat, choke, tremble and cry like real-life patients. These can be controlled by tutors and facilitators via computer. Cameras and iPads are available to provide live play and playback for assessment and feedback to students and observers.
The students also attended a valuable session on how to construct a personal statement for adult nursing, midwifery and primary teaching. The final part of the day was a Q&A with the Senior Lecturers in Adult Nursing and Midwifery and current Edge Hill University students.
The event was very motivational and inspiring for our Health and Social Care students and it cemented their ambition to work in the NHS.
