Course introduction

GCSE Mathematics covers many basic skills that you will need to use in a variety of ways throughout your life. You will be able to use much of what you learn in GCSE Mathematics in other subjects that you are studying now or in the future, if you want to undertake training or seek employment.

Specific course entry requirements

To study a Level 2 programme you will have achieved a minimum of three grade 3s in your GCSEs, in addition to a grade 3 in English Language (please refer to the Entry Requirements section for further details).

How will I be assessed?

Three 1.5 hour examinations. One calculator, two non-calculator.

What will I study?

During the year you will study four main topics: Number, Algebra, Shape and Space and Statistics.

Where will this course lead me?

All employers and Universities will expect you to have passed

GCSE Mathematics.
