London trip

Law students at SJR had a tour of Parliament and a workshop on Law making.They then went to the Supreme Court and then this was followed by a walking tour including Downing Street, Horse Guards parade and Buckingham Palace. Honours Academy Evening

On Wednesday 13 March the college hosted its biggest ever Honours Academy launch. The venue was full to the rafters with over 450 SJR Applicants and their parents in attendance. Those present benefitted from an array of speakers who explained the potential benefits of the Honours Academy, heard from, and met some current and former Honours Programme students and had the opportunity to discuss their future with the Honours Academy team. Apprenticeship News

More of our students are being offered degree level apprenticeships after lengthy and testing assessment centres. The early stages are quite often online and require good employability skills to move up to the the later interview stages. This means we are particularly proud of Patrick Makin for for securing a degree apprenticeship at the BBC based in Salford. The placement is a 4-year degree apprenticeship and he will be working in research and development. Level 2 entry requirements

If you’re not quite ready to start on a Level 3 Technical course (T Levels) or a Vocational Level 3 course (BTEC) but want to begin on the path to your chosen career, the Transition Programme could be for you.  

Transition Programmes are tailored to prepare students to move onto Technical or Vocational Level 3 study. They will give you the opportunity to improve your English and Maths, your work readiness skills and introduce you to the technical skills and concepts that you will need for future study and employment. 

As part of the Transition Programme you will study a BTEC Level 2 Award in your chosen subject area as well as the BTEC Level 2 Extended Award in Work Skills. You will also have the opportunity to resit GCSE English and/or Maths if you have not yet achieved a grade 4. 

Entry criteria for Transition Programmes is four grade 3s including grade 3s in English Language and Maths GCSE.
