Murray Edwards College, Cambridge 2022

Murray Edwards College, Cambridge 2022

On the 29th  March, through the Gifted Student programme, St John Rigby College students travelled to Murray Edwards College, Cambridge, as part of the HE+ residential course.

After an early morning start and a coach trip down to Cambridge, students were delighted to have lunch in the appropriately named ‘Dome’ restaurant. After a college tour and introductory talk on studying at Cambridge, students were able to participate in specific academic sessions that were targeted at their area of interest. Students were then able to attend workshops on writing their personal statements and preparing for an interview, which provided an excellent insight into the steps needed to make a competitive application to a prestigious university. At the end of a very busy day, students were then able to enjoy another meal in the ‘Dome’, before a fun quiz activity closed proceedings for the evening.

The next morning, after a continental-style breakfast, students were able to participate in further academic sessions and hear from current students about their experiences and tips for studying at Cambridge University. As the final part of the trip, students were able to experience some free time exploring Cambridge, which rounded off an excellent visit. The whole trip provided an excellent understanding of what life might be like studying at Cambridge and helped inform students about the next steps required for applying to university.
