The T level in Legal Services is ideal if you are intending to progress directly to employment within the legal services sector in roles such as a paralegal, business assistant in a legal services function, caseworker, a legal service related apprenticeship or to further studies in legal services at university.
The content is split into a core component and an occupational specialism in Crime, Criminal Justice and Social Welfare.
The core component provides a broad understanding of the legal services industry and covers the following topics:
• The business environment
• Careers
• Regulation
• Professionalism and ethics
• Security and risk
• Equality, diversity and inclusion
• Professional services
• Fundamentals of law
• Fundamentals of financial accounting
• Technology
• Data driven innovation/analytics and design thinking
• Research skills
• Project/change management and administration
• The legal services sector.
Your choice of occupational specialism will allow you to develop the relevant skills in preparation for your career in the legal services sector. The content covers topics specific to that aspect of the legal services sector, as follows:
Legal Services Assistant Crime, Criminal Justice and Social Welfare.
• Crime (including non-fatal offences, theft, burglary)
• Criminal Justice System (Police Powers, Magistrates Court, Crown Court)
• Welfare Law (Housing, Debt)
As part of this Technical Qualification, you will develop digital, literacy and numeracy skills relevant to legal services, which will also be valuable in supporting progression in other areas. In addition, you will develop transferable technical and practical skills in communication (working with colleagues, customers and clients), research and project work, providing you with an opportunity to demonstrate your reflective practice by suggesting alternative approaches to a problem.
5 GCSEs grade 4’s including English Language and Mathematics.
You will be assessed through:
• The core component will be assessed by two exams and an employer set project.
• The specialism will be assessed through controlled assessments.
• 315 hours of industry placement over 2 years.
On successful completion of this course you will be able to enter either
• Employment
• Higher education
• Apprenticeship

There are UCAS points attached to the
T level qualification-Distinction * is the equivalent to A*A*A* on A level which equals 168 UCAS points.

If you’re not quite ready to start on a Level 3 Technical course (T Levels) or a Vocational Level 3 course (BTEC) but want to begin on the path to your chosen career, the Transition Programme could be for you.
Transition Programmes are tailored to prepare students to move onto Technical or Vocational Level 3 study. They will give you the opportunity to improve your English and Maths, your work readiness skills and introduce you to the technical skills and concepts that you will need for future study and employment.
As part of the Transition Programme you will study a BTEC Level 2 Award in your chosen subject area as well as the BTEC Level 2 Extended Award in Work Skills. You will also have the opportunity to resit GCSE English and/or Maths if you have not yet achieved a grade 4.
Entry criteria for Transition Programmes is four grade 3s including grade 3s in English Language and Maths GCSE.
