Course introduction

This is the perfect course for 16-19 year old learners who wish to work within the Management and Administration sector. The course will provide and an in-depth knowledge about the Management and Administration sector as well as occupational skills required to enter industry.

Work placements are an integral part of your T level 

  • The placement will be focused on developing practical and technical skills required for employment  
  • Placements are a minimum of 315 hours (about 45 days) 
  • Your placement will be a mixture of blocks and day release
  • Detailed planning and checks will be undertaken to ensure placements are meaningful and professional
  • We are looking to develop links with local employers

Specific course entry requirements

To study towards a T-Level at St John Rigby College you will need to have achieved a minimum of five Grade 5s at GCSE. This must include both Mathematics (5) and English Language (5).

How will I be assessed?

Core component is 50% of the overall qualification

  • Two externally assessed exams (worth 60% of the core grade)
  • One employer set project which is externally set and marked (worth 40% of the core grade)

The core component  is graded A* – E

  • Occupational specialism is 50% of the overall qualification
  • Externally set assignment, internally marked and externally moderated
  • The occupational specialism is marked Pass, Merit and Distinction 

Where will this course lead me?

The course has been designed with progression in mind

Upon completion of the course students can follow a number of pathways

  • Employment 
  • Technical qualification route 
  • Higher technical qualifications (Level 4 and 5)
  • Professional occupations (Level 6 and 7)
  • University

Examples of university courses are as follows:

  • BSc (Hons) Business and Administration
  • BSc (Hons) Business and Economics
  • BSc (Hons) Business and Management with Human Resources
  • BSc (Hons) Business and Management with Accounting and Finance
  • BSc (Hons) Business and Management with Marketing

There are UCAS points attached to the T level qualification-  Distinction* is the equivalent to A*A*A* on A level which equals 168 UCAS points.

Level 2 entry requirements

If you’re not quite ready to start on a Level 3 Technical course (T Levels) or a Vocational Level 3 course (BTEC) but want to begin on the path to your chosen career, the Transition Programme could be for you.  

Transition Programmes are tailored to prepare students to move onto Technical or Vocational Level 3 study. They will give you the opportunity to improve your English and Maths, your work readiness skills and introduce you to the technical skills and concepts that you will need for future study and employment. 

As part of the Transition Programme you will study a BTEC Level 2 Award in your chosen subject area as well as the BTEC Level 2 Extended Award in Work Skills. You will also have the opportunity to resit GCSE English and/or Maths if you have not yet achieved a grade 4. 

Entry criteria for Transition Programmes is four grade 3s including grade 3s in English Language and Maths GCSE.
