After finishing at St Edmund Arrowsmith in 2012, Jennifer enrolled onto an A level programme at SJR. Jennifer completed A Levels in Chemistry, Maths, Psychology, Religious Studies and an AS in Photography. She also completed the extended project qualification to broaden her academic CV. On completion of her A levels Jennifer went on to study Architecture at Liverpool John Moores University (2014-2017) and graduated with a B.A(Hons) Architecture degree at 2:1 classification. During her studies at university she completed a Erasmus Study Abroad placement and promoted this opportunity to study abroad through this scheme to current SJR students at an Open Evening. Jennifer worked as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant at a Manchester based firm for 18 months before returning to university to study for a masters degree. She studied at the University of Central Lancashire (2019-2021) achieving a March degree (Masters of Architecture) and was awarded a Masters with Merit. Since September 2021 she has gained employment as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant at AEW Architects in Manchester which she is thoroughly enjoying and plans to complete her Part 3 qualification which would allow her to become an architect.

Level 2 entry requirements

If you’re not quite ready to start on a Level 3 Technical course (T Levels) or a Vocational Level 3 course (BTEC) but want to begin on the path to your chosen career, the Transition Programme could be for you.  

Transition Programmes are tailored to prepare students to move onto Technical or Vocational Level 3 study. They will give you the opportunity to improve your English and Maths, your work readiness skills and introduce you to the technical skills and concepts that you will need for future study and employment. 

As part of the Transition Programme you will study a BTEC Level 2 Award in your chosen subject area as well as the BTEC Level 2 Extended Award in Work Skills. You will also have the opportunity to resit GCSE English and/or Maths if you have not yet achieved a grade 4. 

Entry criteria for Transition Programmes is four grade 3s including grade 3s in English Language and Maths GCSE.
